Our Fundraising & Communications team

The Fundraising & Communications team engage our supporters, who generously give their time and money to support our work. They also raise awareness of Tree Aid's work in media and across other communications.

Clare Hanley-Theare, Philanthropy Manager

Clare joined Tree Aid in 2017 and is responsible for our high value and unrestricted trust fundraising. She has more than six years’ fundraising experience, working at the children’s charities Kidscape and The Sick Children’s Trust in their community fundraising teams before moving to Tree Aid. Clare is also a fully certified member of The Institute of Fundraising and has completed the professional qualification, the ‘Certificate in Fundraising.’

Emily Nelson, Head of Fundraising

Emily joined Tree Aid in 2014 and is responsible for all Tree Aid's unrestricted fundraising. She has more than 16 years' marketing experience, specialising in direct marketing, initially gained in the publishing industry at BBC Audiobooks and the Geological Society Publishing House, before she moved into the charity sector. 

Summer Brooks, Communications Manager

Summer joined Tree Aid in 2023 and leads the development and implementation of our communications strategy. She works with the wider team to deliver communications content and activities to engage target audiences, to maximise Tree Aid’s voice, profile and brand, and create opportunities to grow funding and other income sources. She has a background in journalism and previously worked for a charitable trust where she led on digital communications.
