New reforestation project

In January this year, we embarked on a new reforestation project in Ghana with our partner Trees for All. The project is reforesting land around vital water sources in Ghana’s Bongo District.

The Bongo area is severely degraded, the area is one of the driest in the region and the climate is erratic. We are working with 20 local communities to grow over 200,000 trees to restore and protect 450 hectares of land in the Bongo River area. Together we will reduce river erosion, improve land fertility and promote land management methods to secure natural resources in the long-term.

Results from Mali

One of our projects in Mali has recently finished and we are delighted to share the results with you.

Over the course of the project, we worked with over 2,500 households, supporting them to form enterprise groups and increase incomes by processing and selling tree products like shea butter.

We are thrilled to be able to say that we recorded a 34% decrease in poverty in the households we were working with. That’s over 900 households that are no longer living in poverty!
