🌍 Shea trees are primarily found in West and Central Africa. 

📌 Shea trees are native to 5 of the 6 countries we work in - Ethiopia, Mali, Ghana, Senegal and Burkina Faso. 

🍇 Shea trees produce fruits that resemble plums and the nuts found within the fruits are used to make Shea butter.

⭐ Raw, unrefined shea butter is a yellowish or ivory colour.

 

 

 

There's more to shea than skincare

Shea butter has many uses across the world. It is commonly found in skincare due to its moisturising properties, but it's used for so much more!

🍫 Shea butter can be used in place of cocoa butter for the production of chocolate and can be found in well-known chocolate bars.

🍴Shea butter is sometimes used as a spread, and can be produced into a vegan alternative for butter. 

🍳 In Ghana, shea butter is often used as a cooking oil, adding a rich, nutty flavour to meals.

How shea supports ecosystems to thrive

🌱Shea trees improve soil health, reducing erosion and maintaining soil fertility.

☀️ Shea trees provide shade, shelter and food for humans and animals. The shade also helps to lower ground temperatures and reduce soil evaporation.
